Things to do while staying at Avocet Rest

Lincolnshire is a relatively small county.  We have easy access to the sea side town of Skegness.  The county town of Lincoln is less than a hours drive away.  For those of you who like horse racing we are within easy reach of Market Rasen and the small select course of Southwell, Nottinghamshire.

The area is a bird watchers paradise as we are well placed for easy access to the RSPB reserves of Frampton Marsh, Freiston Shore and the Wash.  Snettisham  and Titchwell.  Boat trips are run by the RSPB from Boston out into the Wash and up the river Witham.

For the walkers,  Boston offers information  of 10  walks in and around Boston and the country side.

Gibraltar Point has a visitors centre including coffee shop, and toilet facilities.  One of the main attractions there are the seals who can be seen on the beaches all the year round.  Skegness has it’s own seal rescue centre which is open to the public all the year round.

RSPB Freiston Shore and Frampton Marsh have a time table of local events for members and the general public to attend it they so wish.

We are also within easy reach of the Battle of Britain memorial flight visitors centre at Coningsby,  The Queens residence of Sandringham, and Belvoir Castle, the family home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, and Burghley, home of the Horse trials.

There are also many places to fish, either course or trout.  So this area offers something for everyone, and if you decide you just want to sit and enjoy the garden and the birds, then you can do just that and you will not be disturbed.
